Every shaft bends slightly more easily in one direction than any other, because no shaft is perfectly uniform around its circumference. That stiffest-bending plane is the spine. Orienting it consistently relative to the clubface, instead of leaving it wherever it lands during assembly, is what a spine-aligned build means.

No. Flex, weight, torque, and kick point describe how a shaft performs along its length. Spine describes something different — the rotational orientation of the shaft around its own axis. A shaft can have the exact right flex for you and still be built with its spine facing an unhelpful direction.

We roll the shaft across a deflection board under a fixed load at several points along its length and mark where it resists bending the most. We then confirm that reading with a flat-line oscillation check — spinning the shaft under load and watching where the tip settles — before locking in the orientation.

No. Spine alignment helps any golfer whose current clubs were assembled without the check, which describes the overwhelming majority of off-the-rack and even many custom-order sets. It's a build quality variable, not a skill-level one.

Single-club fittings (driver, fairway wood, hybrid, wedge, or putter) run 45–60 minutes. Iron set fittings run 75–100 minutes since every shaft in the set gets individually tested. A full bag assessment typically takes 2–3 hours.

No. There's no obligation to purchase. You'll receive a written spine and spec report with our recommendations and can decide later. If you do order, your fitting fee is credited in full toward the build.

Bring your current clubs relevant to the fitting, the shoes you normally wear to play, and a rough sense of your typical scores or handicap if you know it.

Yes. A large share of our bench work is reshafting existing heads with spine-tested and correctly oriented shafts, which is often the more affordable path if your current heads still suit your game.

Most builds are finished in-house within one week of ordering, since we stock shafts and components rather than sending orders out to a third-party assembly queue.

Yes. Our demo wall includes left-handed heads across every major category, and the deflection board and bay setup work identically for right- and left-handed golfers.

Yes. Any loft, lie, or length adjustment needed within 30 days of a build is included at no additional charge while your swing settles into the new equipment.
