Why We Named the Shop After a Shaft Property
Before opening the studio in 2016, our founder spent six seasons repairing and reshafting clubs for a regional pro shop chain, watching brand-new sets leave the factory with shafts glued in at whatever rotation they happened to land. Nobody was checking spine — the plane where a shaft resists bending the most and the least — even though the test to find it takes less than two minutes on a deflection board.
That gap became the whole reason for the shop. Every shaft that crosses our bench gets rolled through four load points before it's cleared for a build, and the spine gets marked and oriented on purpose relative to the clubface. It's the one variable almost nobody outside a dedicated fitting studio ever checks.

Our studio sits among the metal shops, kilns, and woodworking bays of Asheville's River Arts District, 2,134 feet up in the Blue Ridge. It's a neighborhood built around people who check their work by hand before it leaves the building — a fitting studio built around a deflection board fits right in.
